Pye Hill complex closes
The Pye Hill complex, formed of Pye Hill No.1 Colliery, formerley Selston Colliery and Pye Hill No.2 Colliery at Jacksdale, finished production on 9th August 1985. Along with Moorgreen Colliery at nearby Eastwood, it was one of two planned colliery closures announced in late Spring 1983 prior to the start of the 1984-85 miners strike.
