Nottingham Area NUM ballot, re NUM National Rules Amendment.
A ballot of the Nottingham Area NUM members took place on 13th / 14th May 1985 on the proposed NUM National Rules changes. The question on the ballot sheet read;
‘Do you support your Notts Area Executive Committee in opposing the New National Rule Changes, even if this means being expelled from the National Union of Mineworkers or leaving the National Union of Mineworkers?’
The result produced a 3 to 1 vote in favour of the motion with 15,157 (73%) of those voting being in favour and 5,631 (27%) being against.
