Autumn 2024 meeting of the East Midlands Coalmining Heritage Forum about to get underway in the Dynamo House at Bestwood Winding Engine House, Nottinghamshire, on 23rd November 2024.

East Midlands Coalmining Heritage Forum – autumn 2024 meeting

Volunteers from East Midlands based coalmining heritage organisations and individuals with a vested interest in the coalmining heritage of the region met at the Bestwood Winding Engine House, Nottinghamshire, on Saturday, 23rd November 2024, for the Autumn 2024 meeting of the East Midlands Coalmining Heritage Forum. Following a guided tour of the preserved winding engine house by winding engine house volunteers, the meeting took place in the Dynamo House from 1pm to 2.45pm. Excellent light refreshments and hot drinks were suppled by volunteers from the Friends of Bestwood Country Park.

Bestwood Winding Engine House is open on Saturdays mornings with free guided tours by volunteers from 10am to 12 noon. The nearby Dynamo House serves home made cakes and hot drinks from 10am to 12.30pm.

The East Midlands Coalmining Heritage Forum was formed in 2016 with the twin aims of improving communications and networking between coalmining heritage centres / museums in the region and to try and ensure important local coalmining heritage collections and artefacts are preserved for future generations.
