1983 NUM Annual Conference
The 1983 NUM Annual Conference was held at Perth in July 1983. Two emergency resolutions were passed at the Conference, the first condeming the NCB Scottish Area and its Director, Albert Wheeler, for the underhanded tactics it had adopted at Cardowen Colliery and a second resolution instructing the NUM National Executive Committee to conduct a national ballot of the NUM membership on the issue of pit closures at a time deemed to be the most appropriate.
